Look what I found out in the coop!

There I was, minding my own business, going about the usual chores of the morning, when I found this:

Now to the naked eye (oooo she said “naked”!) this hen looks not note worthy. (Hmmmm~ awkward sentence structure). But actually I think she looks more puffed up. (One of my sons asked if she were hit by a car. “Hit by a car?” I asked. “In the chicken coop?” I asked. “Good point”, he said.)

And out popped this!

Then this!

I think there are more babies under there somewhere. She was sitting on 5 eggs. They weren’t really due to hatch until tomorrow. But I guess these guys are over achievers. I won’t disturb the little family by looking under momma today. We’ll just wait until tomorrow to see what the little hen has to show us. Until then we are on chick watch!

Today’s count: 2 gallons milk, 19 47 eggs

What’s for supper: I don’t know yet. It’s a mystery. 🙂

Update: We had salad with diced pork roast over the top and home made balsamic vinegar and oil.

Weather: Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. High near 56. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Tonight low around 45. Northeast wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
