My wonderful man/ boy is still home so this will just be a short sneaked note.
Summer is pretty fleeting here in NW Montana, being all of 90 days. And I’m pretty sure summer is over for us. The garden is woefully behind but putting on a gallant effort. EVERYTHING is blooming! But I don’t think we will see much in the way of fruit. Miraculously, most of the plants put themselves back together after the terrible hail storm and began to grow again. But starting over again in mid- July is an iffy proposition.
There might still be time. I’m watering and hovering with the hoops and cover cloth in case we get an unexpected dip into the low 30’s. Looking at the long term forecast, I think we’re safe from frost for a least another couple of days. But time is not on our side. It is the end of August.
“If. We. Just. Had. 30. More. Days….”. One of my mantra’s. That and “well, there’s always next year”
Willow is expected to come into heat next week. So we will be moving Vincent, the not-so-little-boar, to his bachelor pad sometime this week end. They will be reunited in early October for a litter of more 4H piglets late winter/ early spring.
We are also watching Maisy for her heat cycle too. Of course we DON’T want to see her cycling as that would mean another visit with the nice AI guy and his long straw.
Time will tell for all.
I will update with all the news as soon as our schedule is back on routine. But of course I will be crying too. My oldest will be flying away to his next adventure~ leaving his loving mother behind.
WAAAA! Oops. Sorry. That just came out of nowhere….
More soon…..Stay tuned….
