It’s super cold. But the sun is shining! At least it is today!
This has been a most unusual winter. (I’ve said this a couple of times and will probably say it many more times before season end.) Typically, we have inversions and overcast days in all of December, January and February. Couple the dreary weather with the fact that it doesn’t get light before 8-ish and is dark at 4:45 pm~ well, that makes for some pretty bleak days. And long nights.
But today the sun is shining and it’s a little warmer and the animals are frisky and guess what?!
I found an egg!!! Actually~ 5 of them! And only one was frozen. That is absolutely amazing! In the past, the chickens molt, stop laying then don’t commence laying again until January. Maybe it’s the breed of chicken. We’ve had barred Rocks before this year, but I’ve never raised these Red Stars.
Well, I’m impressed. Might have to get me some more of these girls!
Today, I’ve got tons of energy. Must be the sunshine. I’m cleaning house in preparation for decorating for Christmas! YAY! Of course I have to get all those dusty Christmas boxes from the garage first. And then clean out the area where the boxes live most of the year. Then sweep up the mess I made pulling the boxes off the shelves. Hmmm. Might not make the house today after all.
Oh well. The sun is shining! I can clean house tomorrow!
What’s for supper: Pork steaks, applesauce and salad with homemade ranch dressing.
