The morning found us completely trapped~ snowed in. Starving children. Thirsty animals. No way out…….
The wind blew all night. I could hear it whistling around the house until the early morning. Then, just like that, it quit.
And it quit snowing.
And the sun came out. And there were diamonds floating in the air.
The dogs blew off some energy “swimming” in the thigh deep snow.
Not all the house animals were impressed.
I need stop writing to venture out the the big red barn to see about the cows. We gave them extra hay last night to keep them warm against the frosty wind.
UPDATE~ All is well at the big red barn. The cows are fat and sassy with lots of good food and fresh, cold water. There is a concern, however. Our wonderful neighbor is worried about the snow load coming off the overhang right onto one of the cows. So later today he and the boys are going to use his roof rake to pull some of the snow off in a more controlled manner. Then we can shovel a path for the cows to the water trough and to the shelter of the barn. I love our neighbors.
Not sure yet. Need to move the snow to let the chickens out 🙂 2 eggs~ both frozen. The pigs were happy.
What’s for supper: Ham, mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli with melted cheese.
