Just a quick note and more later (I think I say that a lot: more later. My intention is to return to the blog later in the day to update and continue my thoughts. But as time is apt to do~ it runs from me and I find myself falling into bed in the night without the slightest memory of returning here. What happened today? What did the animals do? What was I doing? So here I am again. Running. More later~~~)
We woke to clear skies this morning. Clear and chilly. (39 degrees) We only have a slight chance of rain today where I thought it was to rain all day. Yippee! I must grab up children and run to the garden! I noticed yesterday that there is a fine sheen of green coming up in the garden beds as well as the pastures. Noooo! The grass is welcome in the pastures but NOT in the garden. I have a new vision for our garden beds this year and it does not include grass. Every summer I fight with the weeds in this garden spot. Last year was the worst yet. It rained every other day the entire month of May and into June. The weeds were well established before I was able to assert any sort of dominance.
But. Not. This. Year!
So the kids and I, armed with tarps, will cover the beds and (hopefully) keep the weeds at bay. It’s too early to actually work the soil. So we must protect it from invasion!
Off to the garden to do battle!
