We’ve been busy here on the farm. But I don’t have a lot to show for all our busyness. The teenage chickens are getting so big it’s hard to tell apart them from the mature hens.

Naughty chickens in my flower bed.

Little by little the weather is warming.

We still have freezing temperatures at night. And the breeze has a bite. But the snow is all gone and the sun shines almost everyday.

And the days are definitely elongating. We’ve gained 15 minutes since last Sunday.

In the meantime, the vegetables and flower starts are lounging in the basement garden~ just waiting for real spring when they can stretch their legs deep into the warm soil producing fruit for our stomachs and our eyes.

Today’s count: 33 eggs.

What’s for supper: Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Weather: Scattered rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. West southwest wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Tonight snow showers likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. South southwest wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
