Sunshine! Yippee!

Gorgeous, gorgeous day for us this day. The sun is shining. The skies are (almost) cloudless and the temperatures are to be pretty mild~ 49 degrees here now. The chickens are ecstatic, fluttering this way and that~ searching out the best morsels and new little grass shoots.

All the windows in the house are wide open and the breezes from the north are giving the stale air a push out.

Sun shoots ready for harvest to include in tonight’s tacos

Last night I repotted lots of little squash plantlings and pastel colored globe amaranth (also called gomphrena) and snuggled them under lights. There they will spread their roots deep into the new pots and wait for warmer days before going into the garden. SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I am washing a mountain of clothes and pinning them to the line to dry. I love the smell of air dried clothes~ especially here in Montana. When we lived in humid West Virginia, the clothes would sometimes mildew on the line instead of dry. But not here. Living in the high desert has it’s advantages!SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

There is just the smallest bit of snow left in the pastures. With this sunshine, it might be gone before I finish this post! :]  You can see the empty garden spot in the background ~ almoooost time to plant. It’s still too cold at night.

As soon as I’m finished with the clothes, I’m ambling out to the garden to weed the raised beds and see what’s happening out there. We should have garlic showing their heads! And I should be receiving my “pencil” carrot seeds in the mail any second. They are these amazing thin, little carrots that grow fast and are super sweet. The kids love them. I do too. The little carrots will join the garlic in the raised beds and should be ready to eat in only 36 days!

Maisy is due to calf approximately one month from today. Or tomorrow. Or yesterday. I’ll try and get a picture of her later when I go back over to the big red barn to check on their water. Her udder should be starting to change in the next couple of weeks.

Mmmm. Can’t wait for that good food stuffSAM_7183 (2).JPG

Today’s count: 33 eggs.

What’s for supper: Pork sausage tacos! YUM!

Weather: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Tonight partly cloudy, with a low around 35. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.
