no pictures for today….

… because I misplaced the camera. Totally my fault and totally foolish. I’ve looked everywhere. But no joy (“no joy”. That’s what some civilian pilots say when telling a flight controller that they have NOT sighted the traffic the controller has called out to you. It’s a throwback from my flying days about a gajillion years ago.)

But I can tell you what we did today.

The boys moved a ton of square baled hay to the barn. We don’t have the hay elevator yet because the person we are borrowing the elevator from doesn’t have a trailer. I thought the elevator would fit on the truck (with a few parts hanging out the back) but I was wrong. So we have to wait for our neighbor to get home from work to ask if we can borrow his trailer. The boys have 2 tons left in the field to move. So that’s half completed. Daniel mowed the yard. Then helped Luke with the hay. Luke took the trash to the dump and did some homework, fed the pigs then helped Daniel with the hay. Rachael cleaned the front part of the house and did some homework. I milked Maisy, fed the chickens and gathered eggs, weeded all the gardens and weed eated (weed ate?) around the gardens and yard. Now I’m starting supper. Daniel is running out for a haircut (thank GOODNESS!! More on this later). Luke is just about to blast out of here to deliver some eggs to a customer and go to CrossFit. Rachael is filling out her financial aid info for college.

Whew! I’m glad it’s almost time to go to bed.

Oh no! It’s only 1645 (4:45 pm)! Ok so it’s Miller Time instead! (remember that slogan from an ooooold beer commercial?)

So I’m-just-going-to-close-my-eyes-for-a-second before I start supper.

Paradise~ just north of nowhere  z-z-z-z-zzzz.

Today’s count: 1.5 gallons of milk. 38 eggs

What’s for supper: Pork ribs, potato salad, green salad

Weather: Sunny, with a high near 91. Light and variable wind. Tonight clear, with a low around 49. East wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable.

    • Oh haying is such hard work. Nobody really enjoys it. It’s just necessary. I’m SURE the boys wish Aaron were here too. More hands make light work……or something like that!
Hope to find the camera too. 😦

  2. Just checking in, hoping you found your camera. Enjoy your beautiful pictures. I bragged about your web-site on The Kitchen Garden. Then noticed in the comments you were already part of her blog. This week is really hot, and the first of next week we have two days of 105, 107 degrees. Ouch. We are up at 6 a.m. getting things done. Thank goodness for grilling and the crock pot. We have several fires in our area, so have had some smoke. Take care. Know you are busy, busy. Have a great week-end.

    • Hi Bev!
All is well. And I DID find the camera! Just yesterday! YAY! Yes, I love Celi’s blog. We have lots of things in common. As a matter of fact, I just assumed you found Mountain Prairie Farm by way The Kitchen Garden. Small world, huh?
Ooooo~ 107! I have NO reason to complain! 94 is nothing compared to what you guys are experiencing.
We’ve been getting up and out early too mostly to beat the heat but also the flies. Ewwww. I hate flies!
We have lots of fires around us too. It seems the whole of eastern Montana is on fire. We send prayers easterly every night.

Hope your evening is wonderful. And cool! 🙂
