….weather wise, that is.
As you know (because I have been whining about it non- stop) the weather has been unusually warm. We haven’t had any rain since the middle of June. It seems all of eastern Montana is on fire.
But out of the blue~ we get a little cool front. This is the forecast for the next several days:
For about 24 hours, the daytime temperatures will just be in the lower 80’s and the breezes will be out of the northeast. Then it all switches back to “normal”. I’ll take it! But this is the weirdest place I have ever lived.
The. Weirdest~ weatherwise.
The boys and I’ve decided that we really need to concentrate on the piglets these next few weeks and their happiness~ which translates to weight gain. So we’ve focused on making sure their mud puddle is always filled with cool water. It’s always full but after a day of fat little piggie bodies, well, I don’t think the water is too cool.
So a couple of times a day the boys are re-filling the puddle with fresh water.
That water comes directly from our wonderful, deep well and it’s COLD! The piglets push and shove each other to wash their faces and dunk their heads in the water.
Then they shake their big floppy ears and run and wriggle around and bonk into each other and grunt with happiness! Then they run over to me at the fence, lick my pants and beg for treats. Then they are off again, running, grunting, bonking. It’s hilarious!
I wish my camera could do justice to the antics. (The “antics” feature has stopped working too~ just kidding.)
The county fair is in just a few weeks. So we have to work on happy piglets and lots of growing!
Another weird thing- the chickens have started following me around as I do farm chores. Here they are following me into the coop as I look for eggs. This is kind of strange because they are usually so busy doing chicken things, that they don’t pay attention to what I’m doing.
Not sure what’s going on there.
The garden is really wonderful.
Snapdragon forests.
Trees of cosmos (or is it “cosmosis” or “cosmosi”?)
The sunflowers are just starting to show their faces. Here’s one on the porch.
The ones in the garden haven’t unfurled yet. But they will!
Can’t wait!
More tomorrow~ when it’s coooooool!
Today’s count: 25 eggs, 1.5 gallons of milk
What’s for supper: Pork roast with yellow zuc sauteed in butter with onions and mushrooms.
Weather: See above 🙂

I hear you are back to school already. How does your numbers look for this year? Are you going to be swamped again? Bless you, Margaret. You have a greater impact on people’s lives than you’ll ever know.
