Tim scooped up all the kids and the dogs and went fishing. Therefore, I have the whole house to myself for just a couple of hours. Being an extrovert, I’m usually happiest with lots of noise and commotion and business in the house. But this unexpected quiet is nice.
A quick trip to the garden to gather veggies for supper~ zucchini, green beans and kale. I also steal just a few new potatoes from under a several potato plants to eat with the beans. Like a little bit of sunshine on our plates. Mmmmmm. Yum.
The sunflowers are exploding in all their sunny glory. Amazingly enough, the heat loving cosmos and zinnias are still producing lots of blooms though the summer heat is starting to wind down.
After I get this bounty into the house and dole out the few extra HUGE squash to the pigs, (much to their absolute delight!) I’m going to spend some time collecting some seeds.
The sweet peas are starting to put on seed. Since they are all open pollinated, I’m going to collect seeds from the most beautiful-est of plants to save for next year. Yay!
I’ve not grown sweet peas before this year. It was absolutely worth it.
The sweet pea fragrance is intoxicating. Sometimes I just stand in the pea patch, close my eyes and deeply inhale. Heavenly.
On another note~ all of my family is in either Texas or Louisiana. Our oldest son is stationed in Mississippi just north of New Orleans.
All eyes~ and hearts~ are on Texas today. I’m praying for their safety and the safety of everyone’s babies.
Today’s count: 33 eggs! 33!!!
What’s for supper: Pork ribs, steamed green beans with chopped onions and new potatoes, three cheese olive bread. Maybe zucchini muffins if I get my fanny in gear!
Weather: Sunny, with a high near 79. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Tonight mostly clear, with a low around 34. (34!!! NOOOOOO!!!) Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Yikes that is cold! AWE quiet time! What book are you reading? I love your flowers and the pictures are beautiful! hugs to all. We are good no rain here yet. Watching and waiting. Love you!

Hey girl! How’s school going? The radar shows that you guys are still in the path of rain from Harvey. (I don’t know if that’s good or bad news. I can’t remember if you need rain.) I am still reading You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me. The reading is slow going. The book is great but I fall asleep before I get very far. Hope all is well! :]

I love you too Liz. Is Tim still home? We won’t get the rain they thought we would. Hurricanes do their own thing. I love all your pics!! You should put together a coffee table book. 🙂

Tim goes back next week. No word from P yet.
We need the rain desperately. The humidity is in the single digits and the wind is up. Everything here is burning up. The smoke in the air in Missoula is miserable. And not much better here in our valley.
Love you too.
