No freeze last night. The temperature was 38 this morning. But it is damp so the cold seems colder. I don’t think I’m the only one who thinks she’s a bit chilly. Joey just snuggled under the quilt we have on the couch. She’s hard to see. Her coat is the same color as our leather couch. Sweet girl.
Montana made the national news because we had snow 60 days earlier than “usual”. I just scoffed at first. Montana is a big state with varying weather so the snowfall could have been anywhere and everywhere. I’m pretty sure the news report was focusing on Butte. I had read that areas around the town had seen 2 feet of snow.
But yesterday the clouds lifted and look what we saw outside our north porch!
Yikes! We have lots of warm days ahead of us so I don’t think this snow will stay. But “yikes” just the same!
Our fields are taking on that autumn gold.
It won’t be long before the Tamarack begin to show their colors too. Usually we see golds and yellows in the mountains by the first part of October. But it might be earlier this year. I can hear the geese talking to each other from the office window. They sound like they are making travel plans.
Hmmmm. I absolutely need to get moving on our winter food storage (IE: more canning the harvest!)
Have a lovely day!
