….there is a huge pork roast in the oven set on low. In a couple of hours it will be fall-apart-good~ ready for whatever supper sounds good to the boys: pork chalupas, pork nachos, (we are a little bit on a Mexican food theme lately), pork sandwiches au jus or just pork roast with oven baked potatoes and carrots. Yum.
Oh, and it’s snowing. 🙂
Early today I spent some time separating zinnia seeds from the flower chaff.
Zinnia seeds are pretty cheap so I’m only saving these seeds. These seeds are special.
These are from the Queen series and this picture doesn’t even come CLOSE to what the real thing looks like in person. (really need to work on my picture taking skills!)
Here is a snap from Swallowtail Seeds and is a much better representative of what these girls look like.
Isn’t this beautiful?!!!
They were lovely in the garden this past summer~ lush, vigorous. I had several compliments from the restaurant where we supply table blooms. The seeds seem a little harder to find this year. So I’m saving some to supplement the small order I’m paying for.
The dogs are a bit confused, however. The bowl I have the loose seeds in is the same bowl we sometimes eat popcorn. They are either hoping for popcorn snack or thinking that they might need to supervise the seed removal? Either way, they are up for the task!
Life in paradise!
PS: Pooooorrrk!!!! Hold me back, Momma!
Today’s count: No eggs. Nada. Nothing. Zilch. Zip. Freeloaders!
What’s for supper: Pork! (of some kind~ see above).
Weather: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 31. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Tonight mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Light north northwest wind.
