It has definitely felt more like fall these last few weeks. Almost springish- fall. Lots of rain. Lots of nice warm days and cool nights. I even got a few cool flower sprouts planted in the garden (more on that new experiment later 🙂 ).But then~ just like that: Of course, this is Montana andContinue reading

cold, frosty mornings….
….morphing into lovely fall days. The temps have been swinging from the low 20’s (17 one night last week!) into the 60’s during the day. The garden clean up iiiiissssss. Sssssooooo. Ssssssllllloooooowwww. But I am on both feet solidly instead of 4 wobbly feet (crutches)Â like this time last year. And I am thankful. Most ofContinue reading “cold, frosty mornings….”
snow!
We had a skiff of snow on the ground this morning! Here! On the valley floor! Of course I have no pictures of snow in the yard this morning because I am pretending I didn’t see snow in the yard this morning. And if I didn’t see snow, then it really didn’t snow. Right? Continue reading “snow!”
It’s late (0745) but the sun is just making an appearance. The light really messes me up this time of year. It seems like it’s way into October before I move with the flow of fall instead of fight against the change. Don’t get me wrong~ I LOVE fall but weather changes gives me “itchyContinue reading
Just a short post today….more frost is in the future
It was very chilly on my front porch again this morning. 35 degrees, I think. And more cold weather is forecast tonight. The flowers that didn’t bite it after the first frost last week just shrugged off the temperatures. It’s a good thing too because I need to fill more flower orders before weeks end.Continue reading “Just a short post today….more frost is in the future”
It’s amazing when just one day of posting is interrupted. So many happenings on the farm make it hard to catch up. Then, poof. It’s been 6 weeks since you blogged. A web friend calls it perfectly: “if I miss my writing window it is very hard to get back to in the course ofContinue reading
We move Maisy into a new paddock every couple days. She eats everything in her smallish area and drops “gifts” in a fairly intense manner. This has a multifold purpose. She eats the top 1/3- 1/2 of all the greens~ not just the choice ones, and she deposits fertilizer throughout. Then we move her toContinue reading
It’s been an interesting couple of weeks. SOMEBODY in the family decided to cultivate an infected uterus. And had to have surgery. Unexpectedly. The vet said intact, female dogs over 5 sometimes have issues with infected uterus (uterus’? uterus’s? uteri?). It’s considered an emergency and they have to be removed before they rupture. (the uterus~Continue reading
Busy, busy….
…busy. I think I’ll rename spring “busy- ness without end, amen”. Nice ring, huh? We have been ramping up the outside work with the warm weather. Two of the kids I have home right now have been trying to fit in yard/ farm work in between baseball practice and college finals. I have been spendingContinue reading “Busy, busy….”
It’s snowing. And was -17 on the front porch this morning. Bleck. Instead of showing the same old tired images of the snow covered farm, I thought I’d show some of the other things that are going on in our home. But first, cow pictures. Our lovely cows. A few forsythia branches in bloom~ IContinue reading
